Here’s my new pet project, spread the word! (And I should say in advance, I don’t know how novel this idea is, actually, and perhaps there’s an App out there just like this already, but if there’s something quite this simple, I haven’t found it.)
Rules of the game. If you use Twitter, I’ve created the hashtag #mysterycreature for your user-submitted photos of insects and animals that you’ve found in random places—backyard, garage, bathroom, hiking trails, etc. The idea is to attract hobbyist or professional zoologists and dilettante taxononists to help you identify the species, so that you can find out more about the (other) animals sharing your world. 
The creature in this photo is your first assignment. I already know what this little deceased guy is—he’s incredibly cute, isn’t he?—but he was a real puzzle until someone in the know cracked the case for me.
